To Jake E. Lee Fans Worldwide:
The success of JakeELee.com has been outstanding. This further shows the mark Jake has left on us all musically. Aspiring and veteran guitarists alike regularly visit this site, but the forums also show that Jake's fan base extends well beyond musicians. Not only does Jake have the technical prowess of a guitar hero, his stage presence and personal mystique keep fans clamoring for more. Jake's impact is the heart of 'Rock 'n Roll Rebel - A Tribute to Jake E. Lee'.
Three years ago, the idea of a fan-created tribute started floating around on the Jake Talk Forums. The idea seemed simple enough at the time. Musicians who regularly visited the forums offered to contribute material for the project and it seemed that the project was well on it's way. Then, out of nowhere, the plug was pulled on the project. Some tracks were recorded and even posted. It just seemed too good a concept and the initial recordings showed too much promise to let them just disappear into the abyss. I couldn't stand to see this happen.
In October of 2003, I decided to take the reigns as project coordinator. With the help and support of Jeff Levesque (jakeelee.com administrator), the project really started to take off. With the full support of the website, offers to contribute to the project came pouring in. This project is very unique. Through the electronic age, we are able to communicate with people all over the world. While technology can provide amazing things, it can also create unique challenges.
First, we had to decide which songs through Jake's career would paint a deserving tribute to his influence. This was no easy task. There are so many great songs on those records. Second, we had to decide who was going to record which track. There are instances where full songs were provided and others where only an individual part was to be provided. For the latter, we would need to find musicians to finish up the recordings. These challenges just scratch the surface of what was to come. To cover all of them, I would need another website to explain everything encompassed with this project. A couple of things I do want to bring to everyone's attention: Everyone who has participated in this project has done so strictly for the love of Jake's influence. In addition, all of the artists have recorded their tracks out of their own pocket. No one had the financial backing of a big record company or even this website.
I am very proud to have worked with all of the individuals on this project. Friendships have been made and musical relationships have formed. I want to take this time to thank all of the artists involved. You have given your precious time and talents to see this project to fruition. This project has produced very professional results. I never cease to be amazed at the undiscovered talent that is out there. Many of us have worked on this project late at night, after already having completed a full day of work and balancing time with our families. Your sacrifices are greatly appreciated.
For all of the fans out there, you are in for a special treat. Not only do I feel that the track listing makes for a strong record, the musicianship is outstanding. I can't wait for everyone to hear this CD. Stay tuned to this portion of JakeELee.com for all future announcements, artist profiles, links and more. The Jake Tribute forum will no longer be updated. All inquiries may be made directly to me at jimirox@comcast.net or through the artist links provided below.
