My new "whitey" Jake replica.........its a Fender!

Postby timstar » Wed Apr 30, 2008 3:32 am

Its started off as a 60th Anniversary Fender Strat, the white body and headstock were as is. I got a Jake plate from pickguardian and put in the correct pickups this time, two SDS-1s and a Duncan JB (I went for SH not trembucker version). The only difference, apart from not being a hardtail, is I have kept the original Fender logo as it does look really nice. I managed to get some black gotoh tuners with pearl buttons (finally) so shes really as near a damn it!

I have to say I love this guitar. The SDS-1s take a bit of getting used as they don't have major amounts of treble, plus with the opposite slant making this even more so. I can see why Jake does this though because when you are playing though a really loud rig it makes sense as the high end always seems to increase with volume, and this makes it managable.

Probably now my fave guitar I have.

Looks great!!!

Do you have to cut the body to make the pickups fit in there like that, or just get the correct pick guard?

I've never had a guitar with a pick gaurd before :|

you can get the pickguard from http://www.pickguardian.com/pickguardian/

Yes the body did have to be cut slightly to accomodate the reverse slated pickups, but it depends on the body cut you already have. If its a "boat" cut, i.e. a large hole, should not be a problem. Mine was cut for the normal HSS config so a small piece of wood needed to be chopped out.

Well worth it.

When I did mine, it was already routed single , hum, hum so I had a buddy of mine rout the single enough to accomodate the reverse slant. I got my pickguard from pickguardian. com too.
