QUEENSRYCHE REPLACES W.A.S.P. AT ROCKLAHOMA:

June 22, 2007

The powerful, dramatic, diverse and electrifying Queensryche has joined Rocklahoma's already historic line-up. Queensryche joined the Rocklahoma's line-up following unforeseen and unfortunate circumstances that prevented W.A.S.P. from appearing on Sunday, July 15 at the four-day festival, explained Mark Nuessle, General Manager of Catch the Fever Music Festivals.

"We are so fortunate to have a band of such high-quality and popularity of Queensryche to step in to the vacancy left by W.A.S.P.," said Nuessle. "Queensryche is an awesome band to add to this line-up --- especially just prior to their Fall tour with Alice Cooper and Heaven and Hell."

Queensryche, out of Seattle, is considered by many critics to be the original band that began the "Seattle Sound" that produced such groups as Nirvana and Pearl Jam. More than two decades after Queensryche's inception, they have sold over 20 million albums, numerous hits and have consistently toured in over 22 countries world wide. Nominated for four Grammy Awards, their music has been featured in three films.

"When you look at their history and realize they've toured with groups such as Motley Crue, Metallica, KISS, and Bon Jovi --- that they've had numerous Billboard hits that have remained on the charts for long periods of time worldwide --- it just makes it that much more exciting that they have decided to join Rocklahoma," said Nuessle.

The announcement of Queensryche joining Rocklahoma's line-up will only push already-record ticket sales higher. Fans can save up to 25% on their tickets by purchasing them before Tuesday, June 26th.

"This is the last chance for fans of '80's rock to see the largest gathering of this kind to get their discount tickets," said Nuessle. "If they want to be a part of rock history, this is their chance."

Tickets have sold worldwide for Rocklahoma and have been sold across six continents and throughout the United States, making Rocklahoma one of the most successful music festivals across the United States and is a part of Oklahoma's Centennial Celebration as '80's rock fans will converge on the state from locations as far away as Japan, Australia and South Africa.

With VH-1 Classic Host, Eddie Trunk, as Master of Ceremonies, Rocklahoma's now four-day line-up is:

Thursday (July 12, 2007)
Tiger Tailz, Gypsy Pistoleros, Hollywood Roses, KISS Army, an 80's Jam from special guests

Friday (July 13, 2007)
Poison, Ratt, Quiet Riot, Slaughter, Y&T, and White Lion

Saturday (July 14, 2007)
Vince Neil, Dokken, Winger, Skid Row, Warrant, Firehouse, Enuff Z Nuff, Faster Pussycat, Bulletboys and Bang Tango

Sunday (July 15, 2007)
Twisted Sister, Queensryche, Jackyl, Great White, LA Guns, Steelheart and Britny Fox

ROCKLAHOMA, an official Oklahoma Centennial event presented by Rock Fever and Miller Lite, will be held July 12-15, 2007, at the Catch the Fever Festival Grounds four miles north of Pryor, OK just off highway 69.

Tickets prices will increase on Tuesday, June 26th, so fans are encouraged to get their tickets now to ROCKLAHOMA! Tickets are on sale and available by calling toll free (866) 310-2288 or online at www.rockfeverfest.com. Tickets through June 25th are as follows:

QUEENSRYCHE DOES FLOYD, U2, POLICE ON 'TAKE COVER':

August 27, 2007

Queensryche pays homage to some of its musical idols on "Take Cover," a covers album due Nov. 13 via Rhino, Billboard.com has learned. The Seattle group is putting its stamp on such numbers as Pink Floyd's "Welcome to the Machine," U2's "Bullet the Blue Sky" and Peter Gabriel's "Red Rain."

"We'll never top the originals; they're classics for a reason," singer Geoff Tate says. "We were more focused on finding different approaches that took the songs in unexpected directions."

He explains that the album gave the band a chance to have some fun. "During sound checks, [guitarists Mike Stone and Michael Wilton] like to play 'name that riff,' and sometimes the whole band joins in. That's really the way this album came together. We got together and started playing songs to each other, and then we picked our favorites."

Queensryche has only released a few covers, one of them being a powerful interpretation of "Scarborough Fair" in the early 1990s. Some of the 11 selections naturally fit the band's progressive rock influences, particularly Pink Floyd and "Innuendo" by Queen, one of Tate's favorite bands. Others will definitely raise eyebrows. The group is giving Broadway a spin by performing "Heaven on Their Minds" from "Jesus Christ Superstar," as well as the O'Jays' R&B classic "For Love of Money," the operatic "Odissea" by Italian duo Carlo Marrale and Cheope and an acoustic version of Buffalo Springfield's "For What It's Worth."

Tate says he enjoyed the demanding arrangement of "Odissea." "I really like this song because there is a lot for a singer to sink his teeth into," he reports. "Plus I got a chance to sing in Italian, which was interesting, considering I don't speak a word of it."

He considered singing "Red Rain" and the Police's "Synchronicity II" opportunities to explore music he'd previously overlooked. "I'd heard these songs on the radio before, but I didn't really appreciate them before the guys suggested we record them," he admits. "It was a rewarding experience doing this album because it gave us all a chance to pay tribute to some of the bands that have meant so much to us over the years, and we all discovered new songs to love."

In July, Queensryche entered Billboard's Top Music Video chart at No. 1 with the live double-DVD/double-CD set "Mindcrime at the Moore"; it was the first time in its 20-plus year career Queensryche debuted atop a Billboard chart. On Aug. 28, EMI is releasing the group's second greatest-hits album, "Sign of the Times: The Best of Queensryche."

The band is also touring with Heaven And Hell for a month of North American concerts starting Sept. 5 and is currently writing its next studio record.

It is supposed too be overkill hence the term theatrical perfomance.
But I do agree LiveCrime with Chris playin lead is way better from a muscian stand point.

Mike Stone is just not that an impressive guitar player .

Point taken. But even if you know that going in, as I did, you have to admit it's just awful acting, though. Takes too much away from the music and that's a pity. I'm a huuuuuge Ryche fan but, this one is probably going to end up at the swap shop.

I have been a Queensryche fan since the Warning cd .And my opinion when I heard they were gonna do OMC2 is this . If it went though the roff they should carry on , but if it didn't they should just fade away become a casino act.

I never said Tate could act .

OMC maybe has what 4 good songs on it?

Obviously there's nothing like the Classic origionals songs but when a real passionate & very "creative" musicians/bands come along for example: Tesla-Reel to Real, Jake E. Lee-Retraced and Queensyrche to name just a few outstanding legends in their own right comes along and add thier own "respectful" spice with a new inventive rendition to that bring that song or song(s) to the "spotlight" once again! All the music Artists so mentioned above done a real master job of bringing back since Classics to the limelight, again with their own uniqueness added to it with much regards to the music Artists/bands that made them famous. I bet QUEENSYRCHE most certainly shined on those much beloved Classic song(s) by such legends as the Police, Floyd (that's short for Pink Floyd, right?) and U2 & when I get enough "dough" coming my way, I put it on my list. Peace! 8)

Just recently "Hit Parader" and "Metal Edge" done an indepth Coverage on the Rocklahoma Concert Event that take place over the course of this sizzler Summer of Music Festivals and Movies! I have the issue to the Rocklahoma that has Ville Valo HIM on the Feature Cover of Metal Edge/thank goodness his looking more healthier with each Interview he does...'thank God. cheers! :P

My mistake I meant type the 2 .When they wrote OMC2 it almost sounds like they wrote in 2 different parts . Distinctive sound and writing differences there.
