I wasn't a big fan in the 80's but that all changed when I saw him in New Haven during the Lock Up The Wolves tour. I was amazed that all the songs sounded exactly like the record! Dio hit every note every time and that really set him apart as a vocalist (not just a singer).

I was lucky enough to get a pass that night and came close to meeting him backstage but his bus had already left. Yngwie's bus stuck around so I got him to sign the back of the pass. Sloppy seconds! For those of you that have met Yngwie, you probably know he's kind of an ass.

I truly hope he had a talk with God about some of the lyrics he wrote and sang before his passing so he's able to RIP. Truly.

I did Meet Ronnie and He was Very Nice (as Was Craig Goldy)...Although Speaking to People who worked with him..(VC)..He claims Ronnie Could be a Monster..
as For Malmsteen When I met him although he Signed my poster he Didn't seem very engaging and didn't speak to anyone Just gave signatures...
it's the Music that counts...Ronnie did Repeat himself lyrical and Musically But it was Always perfect...Malmsteen however is lost inside his own bottom!

Ronnie is one of the best singers ever in a ny genre of music. But he was an amazing person to his fans and his fellow musicians. I emailed Jeff Pilson of Dokken about his days in Ronnie's band (Strange Highways, Angry Machines, Master Of The Moon) and he told me RJD was very gracious. He made sure that families were around during touring, recording, and treated all of them like family.

He was being treated here in Houston. I think it's only been 5 months since he was diagnosed. Apparently once you start to show symptoms from stomach cancer it has probably already spread. It's a huge loss for metal.

This sucks royally. Stomach cancer is some bad stuff. My best friend just passed away in March because of that disease. He was diagnosed and six weeks later it took him. I didn't even get a chance to see him because he lives in another state.
