Bonzo or Bill Ward?

Postby Deansolo » Fri Apr 14, 2006 12:20 pm

Since its Sabbath vs. Zeppelin lately, how about this one? John Bonham vs. Bill Ward. Although I like Bill Ward alot...and am a huge Sabbath fan..I think John Bonham is/was the s**t. What do you think?

Disclaimer: I know this thread is not as interesting or as entertaining as say, Bo vs. Kelly, but I was bored and wanted to post something. oh, yeah...No offence should be taken. :)

Gonna have to go with Bonso on this one. This guy was just amazing and he could do it all. Fast, heavy and be technical as well. Ward was good but he was no Bonso.

Bonham hands down, I think most hard rock drummers got their style from him in the 80's, I always was a fan of the loud drums instead of tap tap tap lol. And btw I prefer Kelly.

No way was Bonzo better than Bill Ward. They were friends growing up and played in bands in the same scene. Even Bonzo didn't think he was as good. Jimmy Page said the same thing as well.

The thing that set Bonzo apart from other drummers was they way he made drums sound louder than the average drummer. But he wasn't in the same league as Keith Moon or Bill Ward.

Just my opinion though, I am not a drummer so what do I know.

Uhhh, Scott Rockenfield and Nicko McBrain beat the hell out of the drums, and I guess John Bonham did too. I have never really been impressed with Bill Ward's drumming, and when it comes to speaking of "Bonzo,"or Bono, I think of the old Batman show and sound effect words like boing, doing, boing, doing and wham! LOL Let's talk about Keith Moon. Like, what a total dementoid he was!!! Can anyone compare with what he could do to a drumset? But, I don't know enough about drum playing to say one way or the other about drum players. Screw it. Where's my damn guitar?

I always liked the way Rockenfield did his fills on the Queensryche songs. Very excellent drummer.
