Man... I just had an 81 in the bridge and 60 in the neck of my Randy Rhoads. I first payed it through distortion (solid state amp) and it sounded really tight... And then I switched to clean channel, damn, those pickups really killed my amp.

They do, but when I solo up the neck, it sounds really creamy (like Zakk's). I just need to work with it for the clean channel... Man, it clips like a mofo on crack. Can't play any clean passage without it distorting on me.

EMG's are great pickups, is what Zakk uses, and I like his sound most of the time, my xperience with active pickups in the past is they can be a bit noisy, only had one encounter with them as a player, and thought it was noisy bitch, plus there is the battery issue, fuk having to worry about batterys.

Yeh Richard, I am the same, if i change a pickup in a guitar from standard, I use an SD...I have a full shred SD in my Kramer, they sound pretty cool, nice rippy sound, little bright though.
