Hello and a few questions!

Postby Gonzo » Tue Dec 19, 2006 10:46 am

Hello, I just joined the board.

I currently have a white Jake E Lee strat being built for me (lefty) but I cannot find the right body cheap enough can anyone help (UK).

Also, whats the cheapest I could get a blueburst replica for? I have had a quote of £900 and thats for a fully handmade one. Can it go cheaper?

This really needs to be done in UK because of tax etc.

Cheers!

Hi Gonzo. Welcome aboard.

You'll have to expand on the "right body" comment. Do you already have a neck you're looking to match with a body, or are you looking for a faithful reproduction of a '74 Strat body?

On the blueburst, 900 Euro sounds like a good deal to me for a handmade replica. Of course, that will depend on the hardware, electronics, and how close of an actual "replica" the guitar is. In the past, GMW Guitars was the best source of the Purpleburst and Blueburst replicas. Unfortunately, they do not sell these guitars with the same headstock anymore due to licensing restrictions. I paid $1250 for my Purpleburst replica from them about 4 years ago and I can say that it is a top quality guitar.

This is my favorite subject, so feel free to come back with more questions!

Hey!

A hardtail body (lefty) with universal route for slanted pups. But I think I am going for something similar instead now. Its gotta be as cheap as possible cos I know alot will have to go into the blueburst and I`m on a budget! Need parts in UK

Can a good whitey replica be made for about £500?

Thanks for the info on the blueburst, he quoted £950 at first but I got it to £900 with shipping and hardcase.

Cheers!

Good luck with customizing your new Guitar: the hefty advice above looks pretty solid to me so you should follow it because I'm not at all familiar with building & fixing Guitars. So once again good luck & welcome to da Oge JakeELee.com 'Site, Gonza. That's a odd name. Peace!

Gonzo:

Again, if you want quality, you're going to have to pay for it. You can make a "whitie" very cheap, or you can buy quality parts and make a great guitar.

Either way, you can get a body from Warmoth pretty cheap. USA Custom Guitars is a great company, and I highly recommend them, but I don't know how they handle overseas shipping. Expect to pay at least $250 for the body.

Ah, I thought about those two companys but I would have to pay alot of tax and vat etc.

Basically I`ve got a budget of about $1000 for the whitey and just under $2000 for the blueburst one.

Being left handed is a bitch sometimes.

I can get one made within budget but it would have a trem routed body so it will have a bridge with the hole for bar but it will be locked down. Apart from that it will be all correct.

Cheers

On the blueburst one does he have chrome or black tuning pegs?

In some pics he has chrome and some black which has confused me.

Also how can I get the finish matched?

Cheers

Hey Gonzo.

You might wanna contact KnE Guitars for the ash-body needed.
I'm pretty sure they could handle the neck aswell :D

They based in the UK?

Is the blueburst one ash?

At the moment the one I can get will have a locked down normal trem or a hardtail with a small gap where the normal trem would have gone.

Cheers
