Ozzy Osbourne-Black Rain

Post by Daynah »

Well I got an advanced copy and have given it 3 good listens.....

It's about as good as his past 2 releases which isn't saying a whole lot....I wish when Zakk quit(or was fired I can't remember) Ozzy wouldn't have got him back and found some "new guitarist".....Think of the Rhoads/Lee/Wylde era up until No More Tears....All amazing albums......His last 3 studio releases with Wylde have more or less sucked...Zakk has become more and more boring....I mean really how many pinch harmonics does every song need?....Pretty bad when I go over the albums(the last 3) and the best songs on each of them have been the ballads....

Anyways I give it a 3 outta 10........Not my cup of tea.......

Bang-on Daynah. Ozzy should have got a new guitarist years ago.

I always felt Joe Holmes deserved a shot at recording with Ozzy. I wonder what the hell he is up to now? Another former student of Randy Rhoads.

I don't think Zak is the problem guys. He can't help that Ozzy is attempting to appeal to the commercial masses. I'm not expecting Ozzy to make a Bark At The Moon Part II, so maybe that's where you are going wrong with your expectations. Just a thought.

Maybe Brian, but i also think that Ozzy maybe should of stopped when he said he was. No More Tours, No More albums, left on a high, with a multi platinum album and a number of awards. Instead he had to keep kicking the arse out of it, and now when you look at it, he has two or three lacklustre records in a row.

you go listen to any Black Label record and tell me Zakk's not the problem :P

Don't get me wrong though ...

I really dig Zakk and his playing and what he has done,
but this record sounds like Black Label with Ozzy as their
new vocalist.

I have not seen the new OZZY "Black Rain" album, yet. But I have seen advertisments for it: it's oil all over Ozzy well at least his hands are cover in black wax oil looking substance/and in one pic his wearing Sun shades/with all this soot oil on his face it seems. Interesting, it looks futureristic to me. Thus far I only heard some of the sample music snippets that is available to hear on various music 'sites and what I heard so far I liked, so if I come across the new Ozzy Osbourne album I'll give it a check out. Peace.

Well, most likely I'll buy it today during my lunch break at Circuit City. I can't form an opinion until I listen to the darned thing. With that said, I'll give my honest opinion about it once I do.

Personally, I found it to be boring. I can't put on my finger on it, 'cause there is plethora of good riffs and melodies to be found on the disc, but taken as a whole, the thing just sounds tired.

Exactly, I have only heard the single but it's very Rob Zombie and nu-metal. I read interviews where Zakk and Ozzy wanted to recreate the Blizzard and Diary stripped down feel. I certainly don't hear that however.

Its Does seem like all BlS Records are staring to sound alike Maybe if zakk cut cown on The Cocktails maybe it would even out 8)

But I have to Agree that Black Rain sounds like Black Label..
