Another Jake pickup technical question?

Postby timstar » Wed Feb 06, 2008 7:07 am

I'm about to buy two Dimarzio SDS-1s, that's right yes? (and the JB)

The guy from Dimarzio suggested I buy two singles that are polarized oppositely, therefore creating hum cancelling (all this series/parallel lark).

Can anyone tell me exactly how Jake had the two Dimarzios and JB wired!

I need to order tomorrow, so any quick help much appreciated.

(Also is Jakes pickguard solid black or BWB?)

Thanks a lot
tim

Solid black on the pickguard. Always thought a black-red-black would look cool on a white guitar.

don't think jake had them wired for hum canceling, it is just a matter of adapting your technique to silence the noise when not playing.....however if this polarized works then go for it, other wise just practice turning your volume knob off really quickly

I don't think anyone really knows how Jakes are wired, except the man himself. I would get the reverse polarized so you can have hum cancelling in positions 2 & 4. This is the most sensible and common way to do it. I would assume Jakes would be this way as well, but could only tell by playing it.
