I agree with someone above, Craig Goldy is an underrated guitarist. Brian Tatler from Diamond Head is another very underrated guitarist. Theres quite a few guitarists i could name actually, could Jake E. Lee be another ;) ?

(I usually get slammed for saying this)

Prince. His studio albums usually stay away from the guitar solos, aside from the "Purple Rain" album, but I got to see him live a couple years back and he let it rip.

I won't slam you because I totally agree. Prince is a friggin' musical genius, no doubt about that.

I saw him for the first time a couple of years ago - and he is an amazing guitar player. Also one of my best concerts ever :P

Peeper Keenan has always been one of my favs and i also dig Kenney Hickey from Type O Negative . Those are 2 dudes you dont ever really hear much about but they can both tear it up.

With that said, Criss never did really obtain the "guitar hero" status of many players during his time, because Savatage never has received the props that they deserve. Criss was very creative on tunes such as Prelude to Madness and Silk and Steel. If you're not familiar with Criss, please check his work out for me! :)

Absolutley Brian, a monster player and easily the most overlooked guitarist possibly ever. I'd say Criss was a mix of Eddie Van Halen and Yngwie Malmsteen but definitely had his own style and tone. A great riff writer who always had a plethora of tasty fills and lead breaks. If he had played for Ozzy or Dio he would have been huge.

You know, you're right! If he had played for Ozzy or Dio he would've been huge. I've never really thought about that. With that said, he stuck by his brother, who has one of the most "sinister" voices in all of metal! \nn/ If you don't love Jon, then you don't love metal in my opinion.

I agree with you here as well. When you think of Prince you don't think of a guitar player. At least I don't. With that said, I never really paid any attention to him until he played the Superbowl half time show a couple of years ago. The little dude absolutley tore it up for sure!
