Another band called Badlands
What is up with this other band called Badlands? How can they they get away with using that name? I bought one of their CD's and it sucks.
Re: Another band called Badlands
The only other Badlands I know of was formed by John Sykes
before he joined Thin Lizzy and that would make it ... atleast early 80's
so that Badlands came first

These are CD's by Badlands that I found on Amazon that are not Jake's Badlands.
The Killing Kind by Badlands (Audio CD - 2004)
Hands of Time by Badlands (Audio CD - 2003)
When Angels Are Crucified by Badlands (Audio CD - 2008) - Import
I bought the Killing Kind a few years ago at FYE, they are like a heavy metal thrash and/or death metal band.
I am thinking they are from Holland or the Netherlands and the members all have German or Dutch sounding names.

Yeah, I heard/known of this other music band called Badlands and do believe their from Europe/the UK so that makes them able to use that name, too. The only other person to use the wild plains name is Bruce Springsteen in one of his record series dealing w/the homesteads of the USA in which Jake E. Lee's Bayou band BADLANDS also have this homestead wild plains name concept, too. With all these different talented people/music artists using such an foundation name & justly, too. I'm more familiar I must say with fame musicians Jake E. Lee & Co. Ray Gillen, Greg Chisson, Jeff Martin & Eric Singer being called & using the name BADLANDS first off it's a very big part of their Heart roots which they are legendary by.
Much respects.
The Heavy extreme Metal band "Slipknot" have the same issue there's another band that goes by that famous name/Slipknot but I believe they play Classical music...'I found that
oddly interesting.

Re: Another band called Badlands
Well I think if they are going to sell their CD's in the US they should differentiate them from Jake's Badlands. I bought the CD thinking it was something that I had previously over looked and was totally disappointed. You are unable to return CD's once they are opened unless it is defective and you are exchanging it.
I wonder how many CD's they sold because people thought they were Jake's Badlands.
That would be like me putting out a CD under the name of Black Sabbath.

If Jake didn't trademark the name, then it is fair game unfortunately.

Re: Another band called Badlands
We could always pretend they didn't happen, and only Jake's band existed.
Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others.
Re: Another band called Badlands
Yes, but I wasted like $15 on their CD.
I bought Retraced and Runnin' with the Devil and I am rockin out to those right now.
Retraced sort of has a Badlands flavor to it.
