Andy LaRocque, Jake E. Lee, Vito Bratta WOW!!!!!!!!

Postby Alkeys » Thu Mar 02, 2006 1:28 pm

Vito ties Jake in my book of most enigmatic guitarists.

Any Andy LaRocque listeners out there? I used to have some King Diamond tape about 15 years ago and wasn't into it too much then i popped it in today just for kicks and I don't know why this guy didn't resonate with me before, probably King Diamond's singing got in the way-which I'm not too fond of but holy crap!!!

Andy LaRocque is tied in my book as best and most original Superstrat player out there with Vito Bratta coming in a close second.
I know there are a lot of George Lynch fans out there too, but for some reason George Lynch always sounded kinda robotic and boring to me in the same way that I feel about Joe Satriani (yawn)

Vito was pretty expressive although not quite as out there as LaRocque or Lee.

What are your guys thoughts on Vito and Andy LaRocque???? Any fans out there??????

I think LaRoque recorded a solo for the At The Gates album Slaughter of the soul :!:

I'll have to go back and re-visit some of my White Lion and King Diamond cassettes before I can make that kind of judgement....But you're right Vito Bratta was a wasted talent in White Lion, IMO. Mike Trampp sounded so....so...GAY! :)

LaRocque is also a kick ass producer. He did Evergrey's In Search of Truth album and played a solo spot on a song using the slide. What I like about him as a producer is that he knows not to mix the damn guitars too loud.

Yeah
I think Andy LaRocque is my favorite player other than Jake. They both have a real similar squirelly style. Super technical metal with super soul and a jazz head.

The solos that Andy does on albums like Them and Abigail are friggin insane.

Every time I listent to guys like Jake E. Lee and Andy LaRocque it just reminds me of how much I DON'T like listening to Joe Satriani and George Lynch. Those guys suck- all technique, no soul, a bunch of math nerds.

Man, I saw Andy about 8 months ago with King Diamond. It was kick ass. Andy was tearing it up big time!
