Changing fret wires and questons for the Fender guitar

Postby johnthebrucelee » Tue Mar 14, 2006 12:51 pm

Is it possible to change fret wires on a Standard Strat (w/ medium jumbo) to a Gibson Fret Wires (just like Jake)? Sure the frets on a Gibson is not big, I like them and was wondering if I can put them on my Fender Strat. Oh also, is it possible to change the "vintage trem" for a "2 point trem" for a Standard? One more, would the brigde saddles on an American Strat work with a Standard Strat tremelo (replacing the bridge saddles)?

Thanks in advance! :D

i don't think the wires has anything to do with it,
I believe Jake had a Gibson scale fretboard on a strat
scale neck.

It is possible just be careful of how you dress and crown the frets .
not all fret wire is the same but fender and gibson both use dunlop fretwire so its just a question of what size you want . I use dunlop 6500 jumbo frets on my strats and teles but I use 6000 on my lespaul standard and 6100 on my customs
