I replaced my model 1 Charvel neck after a split occured(those pointy headstocks always split!)...with A Japanese strat neck and it looks better too,so I assume that it's standard on Charvel, however I think the neck socket it smaller on Charvette!..I think strat neck is 55/56mm at base!

The Neck socket isnt smaller its the 4 screw holes that are! meaning if you put a neck plate from a Charvel and a Korean Charvette youll se the screw holes dont Match. the Charvette necks oere lower quality as well but I have to agree strat necks always looked better the the Jackson necks plus you dont have to worry about Braking the head stock like on a jackson neck.
Jackson necks as well as gibson and Ibanez and Kramer and all necks at a 15 degree angle break easier then other necks. .

I bought a Charvette body..It was supposed to be a Charvel body..it didn't fit a Mex strat neck, I had to sand the socket..hence my statement about the socket..though it might not have been a charvette/or charvel afterall it was an ebay purchase..less said the better!

how much would it cost to get a luthier to fix the base so it's compatible with strat necks, or vice versa?

I'd measure the socket first..if you buy a replacement from ebay ask for the heel measurement!...I bought one, didn't ask and the neck was 3mm to small!
