I am still torn because I love the blues power of Moore but the true Balls of John Sykes so still I am at an Impass.

Concentrating on the time when they were in Thin Lizzy:
I favour Gary Moore when it comes to this departmant. Black Rose has some awesome riffs and gary really made it shine.
I like the Thunder And Lightning album, I think John Sykes sparked some fire under Phil Lynott's ass. But the problem with T&L is that I miss the "Thin Lizzy double guitar attack" which they were so famous for. I still love the album though. Cold Sweat is one of my favorite songs EVER!

Outside Thin Lizzy:
I like both they're stuff outside lizzy. Moore with his solo-carreer and John Sykes in Whitesnake (and later on: Blue Murder) were pretty kick ass! I both they're solo carreers. BUT I hated the blues direction Moore decided to do. His rock/metal stuff was WAAAAY better IMHO. Sykes on the other hand has made some great solo-stuff IMHO. I only wish he would make a new instaid of going on another "Thin Lizzy tribute" tour (which is cool though). So I favour John Sykes in this department.

Guitarplayer wise:
Both equally good. They both have the abbility to either touch your heart with a beautifull "ballad"-solo or rip it out with a mean fast dirty solo.

That's really tough decision. Gary's style figures so much in to how Sykes plays.

Sykes wins it for me with vibrato. The "Rock in Rio '85" stuff with Whitesnake simply slays, as well. But both of these guys are about as awesome as it gets.
