Southern or Northern Ash ... or even Alder ?

Postby MetalHead » Wed May 17, 2006 7:09 am

Yeah, I'm talking about Jakes main guitar during the Ozzy days ...
the white/black charvelized Fender :!:

I've been thinking about doing a replica of it and I'd like to
know which type of wood it's made of :)

I know the blue/purple-burst is Alder(atleast I think I know ;))
but I'm pretty sure the once-upon-a-time Fender Stratocaster
is/was Ash due to some research on Fenders website :!:

Does anybody know exacty which wood was used?
Please tell me :)

Body is Swamp ash.
Jake has a trans white or mary kay white ESP that is swamp ash too.
Why I know this is because back in 93' I had a Jake E Lee Strat made at Sunset Custom Shop on sunset blv in Hollywood , CA they where a Esp & Schecter Custom Guitar Shop at the time.
One of the sales people that work there said Jake use to visit the shop once in a while.

Yea, I wouldn't think Jake would like Northern Ash. It's real heavy. It feels heavier than 100% maple. Jake liked light guitars, so I would agree with Swamp Ash :)

I've got a swamp ash G & L Legacy with a Seymour TB-4 and it kicks!

If I had to pick I would choose swamp ash regardless...

Take a look, $1150 made to order in 2004 - fender liscensed body...

My next one will be a warmoth I put together with a hardtail :!:
