No one holds anything against Eric for making money...only calling Jake a dick.jimiforrest wrote:I have to laugh at a lot of things in this post. For one...Badlands was a great, great band but they made some bad business decisions. You can call it integrity or what you will...but if you are gonna make music your income there are some sacrifices to be made to keep the money coming in. Don't get me wrong...I admire the fact that Jake has stuck to his guns but that doesn't necessarily guarantee a paycheck. Personally, I don't think Jake is worried about that.
As for KISS...simple songs...great stage show. They are entertainers more than musicians and I think everyone here knows that. I've been around the business long enough that there is a compromise between integrity and keeping food on the table. I can't say that I hold anything against Eric for going out and playing music and getting the most dinero out of it. Hell...a first year guitar student can play that shit, LOL.

Yep, you're right Jimi. A lot of times you have to play crap to get that paycheck. Lord knows I've played in bands over the years that "entertained" solely for the money. I've also played with great players in bands that never made ANY money. Don't get me wrong tho'....It was never at the level of Bandlands, but to badmouth someone with whom you created GREAT music with to a fan is pretty fkd up IMO.

Re: I met Eric Singer
Well...he did mention that he loved the tunes. Being on the outside looking in...none of us really know what went down with Eric's departure. We hear the stories, etc. but we weren't there when it happened. Jake is not real popular with former bandmates in certain situations. Again...we weren't there when those things went down. Just being a conciencious objector, LOL.

O, man. I can't resist. I've got to say it!!! KISS my DI . . . eeeaauugh. I couldn't do it. LOLOL Is Bruce Kulick really a great guitar player? I mean, great? I know that Vinnie Vincent is definetly NOT what I prefer to think of as a "great" guitar player, but I don't know anything about Bruce. I've never witnessed much of anything great, musically speaking, to come out of KISS. I had a hell of a lot of fun running around with a tennis racket and rocking out to their records when I was a kid, though! GET UP! (everybody's goin' to lose their seat) GET DOWN! ( everybody's goin' to feel the beat) !!!

Um Frethead,
Those lyrics were supposed to be a joke, right ?
Like an intentional goof.
Not that I'm a huge Kiss fan, I'm just trying to make sure I got the joke.

Okay, okay....You're right..not great as in Vai, Satch, Malmsteen, etc. But as a solid Rock Guitarist, I think Kulick is right in there.frethead wrote:O, man. I can't resist. I've got to say it!!! Re: I met Eric Singer
Well, here's my opinion, eventhough no one has asked for it.
I think Eric is a great drummer regardless of what he thinks of Jake. I don't think Jake gives a rat's ass what anyone thinks of him to be honest!
With that said, I question if Eric really called Jake a dick to begin with. Also, was Eric convieniently carrying around back stages passes and just handing them out? Come on.
Nobody in their right mind would turn down the opportunity to play for Kiss! Call it love for money or whatever, but please. I'm not a "musician", but I don't believe anyone doesn't dream about making alot of money playing their music to millions of fans. Jake doesn't have anymore integrity than Eric has, just because Jake chose to get out of the music business full-time. That's bull and all of you know it!
I believe this whole thread is a bunch of crap.....

No seriously man im not lying. And why would i make this up anyway ? I have nothing to gain by making up a story about Eric Singer. We talked for a few minuets about more than Just Jake.e.lee and actually we talked more about Kiss than anything. And as far as the Backstage passes go the band was doing a meet and greet at the record store so i would imagine Mr. Know it all ( Poets ) that is why he was " just carrying backstage passes around " and it was to bad i had to work in a few hours or else i would have called in sick
. But once again im not making this up and i just thought it would be nice to share the story with all of you.

Not a joke. Do I have them wrong? I s'pose I probably do since I haven't listened to them since about '77, well . . . that song, anyway. I will admit to having alot of trouble picking out lyrics when there's a loud, distorted guitar playing. LOLdave1021 wrote:Um Frethead,

I'm just mad CubsFan because I didn't run into Eric Singer myself!
I do like the guy though, so if he really did say that about Jake he probably has his reasons. Lord knows, Jake isn't God to me by any stretch of the imagination. As for the Mr. Know It All comment, thanks for the compliment!
No hard feelings dude! I'm glad to see you around.

Fret- those lyrics go " Get up, everyboby's gonna move their feet. Get down, everybody's gonna leave their seat. "frethead wrote:Not a joke. Do I have them wrong? I know this cause my band covers this song and for some strange reason it goes over well. Hell one night our singer forgot the words and I had to sing it. Yea Haw. Good thing its pretty simple cause I can't sing and play well.

I may have a new name but il always be the Glam Slam Hair Metal Jammin Hardiver i always was
It was just one of those weird situations where i wanted to ask so many question that i couldnt get the words to come out right ya know
Anyway i think the thing that brought up the Jake comment was when i told him that hes been one of my favorite rock drummers since Badlands he seemed kind of taken back when i said the word Badlands so i said " What was it like playing with Jake.e.lee ? " and he said almost word for word " Man that guy is a dick " but after i told him that i still play the Badlands (ST) CD on a regular basis he was like " Yea man i loved those songs " or something like that. I was all shaking and nervous because to me guys like Him are larger than life rock stars and they dont make them like that anymore. Anyway No hard feelings my brother and Remember this GLAM ROCK and HAIR METAL SLAY ALL THAT IS PROG/POWER

Just thought id throw that one in for old times sake
Re: I met Eric Singer
I agree with that comment 100% ( One of the best debuts of all time ). The sad thing is that Badlands doesnt have a larger body of work to jam out to ya know. But even if they would have stayed together longer Rays health would have spelled an early demise for these guys anyway. I guess Badlands is another one of those bands that goes under the " What might have been category "
