Maybe, we will see a new Van Halen release.

Nosebleed, indeed. The venue sucked and the music wasn't loud enough. Dave made reference to Seattle instead of Louisville. He forgot two lines in a song - totally blanked out - good thing the audience took up his slack - he jumped back in on the chorus and made it through the rest of the song okay. Dave's voice was phenomenal. Eddie's playing was great. I thought I'd thoroughly miss MA's backing vocals but, that wasn't the case. I don't know if there was some old vocals synched in or what but, all of them were spot on. Maybe Wolfie has singing talent, as well. Dave, still as entertaining, tried a couple of kicks and spins but, they just were not the same, of course. Eddie didn't get very mobile on stage, at all. The set list was the best surprise of the night. They played about 4 or 5 from their new album and the rest were their classics. Two choices that completely caught me off guard were Mean Street and Somebody Get Me A Doctor. Alex did a very short drum solo and Ed's guitar solo, while great, could have been a little lengthier. All the guys looked like they were having a great time which was a huge plus. I just wish it had been louder!! The venue holds 22,000 people and I hardly saw an empty seat anywhere. My expectations were kind of low but, the guys proved me otherwise. It was great to see them and even greater to see my daughter enjoy it. There is live footage of the show on youtube.com - just look up Van Halen 2/18/12 Louisville, Ky.

It really seems they are having fun on stage ..Doobie wrote:Clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vO78fSwJmb8
Although I can not help feeling that they consider the every move, so they do not any physical harm done ..
A particularly saving in movement is Eddie...
Of course, neither playing nor the singing you can not have complaints - everything is ok.

Cool review Doobie....
I saw them in 07 and the were on there best behavior. Being L.A. is there
hometown, they were welcomedwith open arm`s. They were kick ass back
then, it does`nt surprise that they played well this time around. They were
using sampled background vocal in 07 .Look`s like Wolfie took some some
singing lesson`s and he`s taking care of the higher range. In addition ,he`s
more of a noodly player this time around. I`ll see them in June when they
come to my city .

Shredder, DLR sings some of the parts of songs in an unusual range, at times. It's not off-key, just a different range than we're used to. However, it sounded fine. You just have to go in with the realization that what you're about to see is not the VH of the 70's and 80's. If you do that, you'll enjoy the show. Too many people think they should still have everything they had back in the day ... we old folks know better, don't we? LOL
Re: Maybe, we will see a new Van Halen release.
Another thing ... while singing the talking parts of songs such as Everybody Wants Some, Hot For Teacher and Panama, DLR does not go word-for-word with the original script. In some ways that was disappointing as some of those lines like, "I forgot my pencil", "give me something to write on, man", "I reach down between my legs, ease the seat back ...', "I like the way the lines run up the back of her stockings" are so iconic and great (drunken) sing along moments.

Yeah, not sure what the deal is. I did not really care for their newest effort, but I really liked the Downtown sessions they did and would have rather seen a whole DVD of that. Watching that, brought attention to DLR. You can tell he is starting to have some health problems. At first I thought he was just really high and later found out that he has parkinsons. So not sure whos health is the issue here. Sure would be nice to see them live one more time. This would the second time around for Michigan dates getting cancelled.
Re: Maybe, we will see a new Van Halen release.
Anyone heard if Van Halen will be continue their tour or have they dropped it..
Re: Maybe, we will see a new Van Halen release.
Probably had to take time off so DLR could re-learn all the lyrics. Juz sayin' ...
