I just recently found out Kahler is back on the scene...This time from the city I live in...only about 1 mile away (Oceanside, California USA).
Called 'em up to see if they had parts to refurbish my 2700 series with auto latch from '87 (pivots are very well worn). Said they had all the old parts available even for the auto-latch!
What do you guys think of Kahler? Their new stuff....and old stuff. Here's the link:
Yeah I haven't used the trem for years either. On that particular guitar ('87 Carvin Custom Shop DC 125) I ordered it with the Auto-latch system...when the bar is down it locks it into a fixed bridge. Lift up the arm...and, voila'...floating trem!!! pretty cool.
I don't play it much anymore but I dig that feature on the Kahler.
Same here I haven't used a Floyd in years. I bought a Jackson Randy Rhoads EX back in '94 but I didn't like that guitar at all, thin neck, weak and dull pu's and I just stopped using it real quick.
All my guitars have either a tune-o or a vintage trem with the bar removed.
Yet, my latest project, a Kramer Baretta replica, will have a Floyd. I wouldn't consider a Kahler anyway, too "exotic" for me I guess.
I never really used them, but my Kramer had a Floyd Rose, and when i did have a play with it, it stayed in tune real nice....A mate got a kahler put in his strat, they look alot nice and from memory they were alot bigger and sexier
Kahler because if you don't use a bar you can use it as a fine tuner bridge and not have to worry about reintonating like a Floyd. not to mention the are easier to maintain as well and you don.t have to cut the balls off the strings ECT ECT ECT !!!!!!!

Floyd! I built a Kahler'd guitar in 1985 and had played several other's. The guitars never stayed in tune. My guitar from 1985 has been played for about 2 hours max. since I put it together. Still never stays in tune. I attribute the problem to the locking nut after the guitars true nut. Kahler copies of Floyd's from the '90's were OK that came on the Fender HM Strat's.
