It can be from Elf, Rainbow, Sabbath, or his solo years. My favorite track of his is, Straight Through the Heart from his Holy Diver album. \nn/

Hmmmmmmmm....

Can't pick just one overall for his entire career...

Rainbow-Gates of Babylon

Sabbath-TIE Heaven & Hell (studio)/Voodoo (Live Evil)

Dio-The Last In Line

Yeah picking one is hard....If I had to pick just one....

Heaven and Hell

Yeah, I admit guys it's tough to nail just one. Straight Through the Heart makes me want to punch something though!

Well....it's a good song to work out to anyways.

Sign of the Southern Cross is a good one.

So is Voodoo, and All The Fools Sailed Away, and Tarot Woman, ooohh and Stargazer, and Caught in the Middle.... the man is a God.

I suppose if we're concerned with the overall impact from 1975-1992...

Heaven and Hell

That song sums up everything he was about, and threads of it can be found in anything he's done, before and after. Life is about what you make it...but there is always someone trying to stomp you out. ("The world is full of kings and queens who blind your eyes and steal your dreams)/

As much as people like to paint Dio into this "Dungeons and Dragons" mold...he actually covered much more realistic topics (albeit in a fantasy laden manner) than he was given credit for. The best example would be "Children of the Sea". Going by the title, you would never guess that he was talking about the environment (pollution, the end of life on Earth as a result of man's excess).

Just a personal interpretation/observation

I'm not 100% sure, but you're probably referring to Lock Up The Wolves.

Some very close runner ups to Straight Through The Heart are:

Caught In The Middle from Holy Diver
Invisible from Holy Diver
Hungry For Heaven from Sacred Heart
Angel from Lock Up The Wolves
Sign of the Southern Cross from Mob Rules

...it seems like I go more for Dio's melodic sound as opposed to his late heavy stuff as my favorites...

Nice pick! Listen to Fates Warning's cover of that tune on the Holy Dio tribute disc. \nn/

"Wild One", that's it!
Thanks. Short term memory loss sucks!
