you go listen to any Black Label record and tell me Zakk's not the problem :P

Don't get me wrong though ...

I really dig Zakk and his playing and what he has done,
but this record sounds like Black Label with Ozzy as their
new vocalist.
Its Does seem like all BlS Records are staring to sound alike Maybe if zakk cut cown on The Cocktails maybe it would even out 8)

But I have to Agree that Black Rain sounds like Black Label..
I don't think Zakk is a cocktail type of guy. He's probably more of a straight up beer and bourbon kind of fella'. I get your point though. :D

Someone sent me a copy and I listened to it on the way to work yesterday. Ozzy's first studio album in 6 years, and it just didn't grab me at all...there wasn't anything that stood out or made me want to listen to it again. I'm glad I didn't pay money for it

He performed it last night on Friday Night With Jonathon Ross (BBC TV Show, England) and it just didn't do it for me, again. Zakks performance wasnt clever, like usual in my opinion, and Ozzy sounded really rough.

OZZY OSBOURNE STRUGGLES WITH RASPUTIN MUSICAL:

May 24, 2007

Rocker OZZY OSBOURNE is struggling to bring the tale of Rasputin to Broadway insisting it's much easier to make hit albums.

The BLACK SABBATH rocker is making a big-budget musical based on the 19th century Russian monk's life, but concedes it's harder than he expected - and has even turned to pop pal Sir ELTON JOHN for advice.

He says, "It's kind of been nearly done. The thing about it is, I'm singing some of the parts, and it sounds OK, but then, when it does get picked up, it's not as easy as making records.

"It's a big thing, because you've got to get choreography to put what you've written into a stage thing and insert the songs for this thing."

Sooo...do you think the Prince of Darkness can bust a move? 8O
This reminds me of Spinal Tap's idea for a Jack the Ripper musical, Saucy Jack!

I kinda agree with Skezza, Oz shoulda stopped recording after "No More Tears", it's always been his new material that we have judged him on, & agreed, his last three Albums have been poor, apart from a few tunes here & there,....

Ozzy shoulda just toured every 2 or 3 years, he would get more respect that way, we know he's almost 60, & can't race across the stage anymore, but just touring now & again woulda been much better for the diehard fan's,...at least they can see their idol in a live situation..

Ive always wondered, who are these dick's (in management) who surround Artist's like Ozzy & Metallica, & tell them their new material is great!!!..when it's clearly average / poor!

As far as Zakk goes, i still think he's a gifted guitarist, but he's become lazy in his music writing, if the new BLS album was his first ever release, you would hear the difference then!!!...ohhh yes!!

Cheers

The best song by far is I Don't Wanna Stop followed by Civilize the Universe and Black Rain but the rest is very pedestrian. The music doesn't even seem to fit the styles of the band members either. This sounds like metal elevator music to me LOL. It's a decent release but very boring and poorly paced. Kevin Churko did wonders as far as the Ozzman's vocals which are excellent and maybe his best. But the producer for the Prince of Darkness? With a resume of Britney Spears and Michael Bolton just to name a few should have thrown up a red flag. Down to Earth is a much better release than this cd and that's saying something. Hopefully Ozzy and Sabbath will redeem the Prince's rep. Maybe Tony should just grab Ronnie and make a Sabbath record before it's too late. I just can't see Ozzy making a REAL metal album anytime soon.

I've only heard the record once so I'll reserve judgement until I've had a chance to listen to it a few times.

I know the Ozzman records his vocals with 16-24 tracks for added fullness but besides that his vocal melodies are much more interesting and diverse. However, it is very unlike Ozzy and not a heavy enough release IMO. It has it's moments but I have stopped listening to it already. Black Rain is just way too commercial.

I stopped listening very quickly. It is not in the same league as Blizzard, Diary, BATM, or the Ultimate Sin. Theres no comparison.

The only way Ozzy could re-create another Blizzard Of Ozz, is if he hired C.C. Deville!
