Well, everyone has personal preferences but I have to disagree about the switch being a strong point. The switch in a Boss pedal is the one component that fails most often under heavy use. The switch is a micro-switch that is mounted under the "treadle" that you step on. The treadle is actually a cool design and an very efficient way, IMO, to adapt a low cost push button switch for use in a foot pedal. It would be too costly to use the treadle design on a production run of less than 2000 units._will_ wrote:
I do like the engage buttons of Boss pedals, I would say its such a strongpoint of their pedals. Theres no way you can have a footswitch like the boss?
When playing around the house, I don't have shoes on, and its just annoying to have to stomp on the thin switches

Yeah, it's possible. but it depends on how handy you are at cutting and bending sheet metal and if the pedal has room inside for the pivots._will_ wrote:I can understand that.
(was the treadle bit that I was referring too)
Just a curiosity would it be possible at all to put a treadle over a normal switch? - not suggesting this for the Jake OD

Yeah, Ozzy...Badlands. Back in the day, when he used Boss pedals. The Balands tone was drier than the Ozzy tone but I believe he was still using the Boss overdrive. I'll try to clear up what was so special about his OD-1 before I proceed....I mean, was it stock or modded.mrmetal wrote:Back in the day meaning Badlands day? What kind of tone best describes the pedal? I never was a fan of the Boss OD because I thought they were kind of treblely sounding. I like some fat-end in my tone. Just curious...
