This saddens me...

Or find Jade! I'm sure she would love this about her grandparents.

He said he's done everything to get a hold of Jake, but did he ask here?

If it were me and I was trying to get in touch with someone like Jake, I'd first look for an official site. If one doesn't exist, I'd try to find some popular fan site like this one and ask the moderator or site owner for some assistance.

In this case, someone could have said, "Yeah, Jake's daughter pops in now and again," and take it from there.

I agree with the guy that he has the right to sell them.....but i don't think he tried as hard as hey says to find family members...why doesn't some from here give him a link to jades facebook or to the 3 day crush singer??...I would but it won't let me ask questions on ebay

...if it was an estate sale, the family sold these items? therefore, it would seem the family doesn't have an interest in them? that's what I would see here...

I'm sure I read a post that said Williams was going to hold estate sale?
and this site's member could buy the items first, if we wanted, some
years ago. I guess the family sold it because they didn't need it no more.
Why do we have to take it back for the family.

Is this 'estate sale' common in the U.S.A.? I don't know.

To say the "family" doesn't have an interest in them isn't a complete story.

No one is saying the family didn't have a right to sell them and no one is saying the guy who bought them doesn't have a right to sell them.

But as someone who is now at that age where I have an interest in my family's history, what was seen as something worth selling years ago could, for another generation today, be seen as very important.

Turns out my family ditched some photos from their days in Russia (after having come from Germany) that many of us wish we now had. At the time, they threw it away just like we'd throw away some casual photo from today because they thought, "Who the heck would care?"

Well, future generations of the family might care.

So, sure, I can understand getting rid of the letter if no one at the time cared. And if no one still cares, so be it. I'm not advocating that the owner of the letters has to give them back.

But he was the one who said he tried to find the family. Just a shame more effort wasn't made to get in touch with the family as I outlined earlier in this thread.

Obviously none of us has the full story, so maybe there's a piece missing here. I'm probably a bit more sensitive to the issue since my family history is something I've been looking into a bit more in the past few months. So when I see a large group of letters like that, I kind of hope they can get to some member of the family that would appreciate having them now even if no one at the time did.

And, yes, estate sales are very common.

I don't think it was sold at all. It says "Reserve Not Met" which means no one got the price up to a hidden minimum price the seller wanted.

So I think he's still the owner of it.

If no one buys it, he'll use them for heating a bath.
If there is something Jake himself owned, I want to buy :P

I can't see what it is, quite frankly?!? If it's something offensive then hell how did it get there in the first place...'people can play all kinds of games on the global Web. And the musician at hand wouldn't know nothing about it.
