I still haven't heard MCII...but it's in my possession now so I plan on checking it out over the next few days. When I've heard it 3 or 4 times I'll give my opinion on it.

Madman,
I would say you have to be a musician to fully understand it.
Are you a musician or just someone who like`s to listen to
music?.....It`s my experience at teaching rock/metal that
a general non-musician just want`s to hear a good song.
Being a musician you automatically anylyze any music you
hear.We have sharper hearing and we listen for thing`s that
someone who is not a musician never heard before on a
track.

And the refrence`s to the ladies.....They are hot porn chick`s.
Would`nt steer you wrong unless it offend`s you.Just bringing
some humor into the conversation.I would personally like to be
serviced by those two.

Take care

Poets - my point here was to talk about the music of OM II - not the concept of the CD. I took your reply as nothing but a bashing for the concept. My intent on posting an additional thread on this topic was to steer away from what you had already mentioned on another thread. I think you quit reading my original post as soon as you saw the line that pissed you off. Sorry to piss you off but, I still stand by my statement. No hard feeling for you tho! Mmmmwah!

And to all the others - songs 5 and 6 just keep getting better every damn time I hear them. I'm diggin' it for a minute.

For me, this album is just okay. Better than tribe,q2k and HITNF but weaker than anything from the EP to Promise land. This just happens to be MHO. I am a musician and I don't find this music complex at all as has been suggested. I find it to be yet another sub par album from what was once my favorite band. I give it a 6 out of 10.

I am glad that some of you are digging it.

To me, if you like QR you should check out this band. They don't sound like them but the music should apeal to you.

Well Shredder, I respectfully disagree with you. I'm not a musician, but I do know good music when I hear it. The current music that Queensryche is putting out is subpar to what they are capable of doing, with or without DeGarmo. In an odd kind of way, I'm complimenting the band by saying that. They CAN DO better, because they've proven themselves over and over again. I'm not denying that you might have a sharp ear for music, that's fine, but I do as well.

Over the past few years, after I discovered Savatage, I have found that most people don't get what this band does. IMHO, I think they are one of the best metal bands that's ever existed! No, they don't have the world's best hard rock vocalist by any stretch, and they don't even have the world's most renowned musicians in the band. What they do have is some of the best chemistry I've ever heard out of a group of musicians. They're one of the few bands that I know of that can actually tell a story/concept and make music that actually fits the mood of the story they're telling. In my opinion, they literally set a mood/feeling by playing their music. If you're not familiar with any of their music then I suggest listening to Streets - A Rock Opera, Dead Winter Dead, and The Wake Of Magellan to get an idea of what I'm talking about.

The point I'm trying to make is, music isn't all about technical prowess, shredding, and ball squeezing vocals. I like those things, but I don't look for every band to have those traits. Actually, I don't want every band to have those things or I'd get pretty bored quick! I do look for a band to do what they do, and to do it well. Currently, Queensryche isn't doing what they do best. Operation Mindcrime II is a step in the right direction, I must say, but they're not quite to where they were pre-HITNF. That's just my "non-musician" opinion though........

As for the porn stars, well that's another thread I guess......

The concept is fine, the music is what I have found to be flat for me. I took you're reply as saying if you don't like this current album, then you're close minded, case closed. If you'll go back and read your post and read it from a viewpoint other than yours, then I believe you'll see what I mean. Anyway, it's water under the bridge for me. Like I said the other day, Ryche on!

OMII is alot better than Promised Land.

And to answer Doobie's earlier question I somehow missed, "The Hands" and "Re-arrange You" are my initial favorites, but I really like the whole album.

I agree with mrmetal on the Promised Land statement - I didn't even find that one worthy of investing in. Hear in the Now Frontier can can be added to that list, too.

mrmetal - the only song I haven't really been able to get into on OMII is Murderer - not too fond of that one.

I've had a chance to listen to this record a few times now and I honestly don't think it's that bad. I guess I almost expected the worst so I was pleasantly suprised that I didn't hate it. I enjoyed it much more the second time through. The only thing that I didn't care for too much was that Mary has too many singing parts...other than that, I didn't think it sucked.
