You guys heard of Helstar? Omg, they are really good. In my opinion, they are better than Metallica. Don't get the wrong idea I hate Metallica... So hard to find live vids for Helstar... Anyways, what do you guys think of this band?

I've heard of Helstar. If I'm not mistaken the original lineup is from Houston. I'm not too familiar with their music though. I have a close friend that's from Houston, so he was familiar with them before they broke through in the 80s. He said that they did a tour with Stryper called, The Heaven and Hell Tour. I'm assuming he knows what he's talking about...

John is great. I've recently bought the new Awakening the Guardian Package that they've re-issued. It's good stuff! John Arch's recent EP was great too, if you haven't checked that out.

I saw Fates Warning open for Queensryche and Dream Theater in 2003 in Atlanta. Let me tell you, Ray Alder will win you over live if you're not totally convinced with their studio efforts. He blew me away dude!

I think Ray is outstanding and I still purchase new Fates Warning cds when they come out. I know what tour you are talking about and I missed that one. My friends went and one of them ended up with one of the Dream Theater set list they had on the floor for each memeber. They had them signed and everything. Pretty cool, too bad I missed it.

I am just partial to John Arch because that is the Fates Warning I grew up with and first discovered. Plus, John has that unique vocal sound.

You're right about the EP, that is a great disc. I hope John does another one soon. He was kind of like Jake. He pretty much gave up on music and was running his contractor business.

That is cool about the setlist! We weren't able to meet any of them or anything, because we had a 5 hour drive ahead of us.

I agree, John needs to do a full-length disc with Portnoy, Matheos, and Vera.

I like the latest Fates Warning disc, X. I actually like it a little better than Disconnected, but I believe I'm in the minority among the fans.

It's sad to see one of the most technical drummers in the genre, Mark Zonder, move on to other things isn't it?
