A few questions about the Charvel "Whitey"

Postby timstar » Sun Jun 25, 2006 2:07 pm

What machineheads does it have exactly ? (The black heads with pearl tuners). Are they Gotoh or Schaller? Does anyone know where I can get a set? I think its Gotoh SG-36

What angle are the inverse single coils sitting at? Which is the company that makes the Jake scratchplate?

What colour white is it exactly? Gloss Olympic white?

Is the headstock white on just the face or the whole head?

Any help appreciated.

(A you can probably guess I'm working on a Jake white guitar).

I think I've read Gotohs somewhere.

they are slanted by 10 degrees and pickguardian.com will do
the scratch plates :)

I think it was arctic white at first but the color
has changed over the years

I think only on the face, but someone else could probably
give you more accurate info :)

I currently am having mike and wayne charvel (of wayne guitars in paradise california) custom make me a replica of jake's charvelized fender whitey. I also have a wayne blue "holdsworth" custom. If anyone is interested in getting a custom guitar (and has $2000 or so) have them build you a jake replica guitar. This is the only current company that captures the old handmade san dimas vibe-and i've played them all.

Hey Charvelised,

If you haven't checked out their site-visit Wayneguitars.com. email Mike charvel and tell them paul from mesa sent you. This is my sixth guitar, and each keeps gettin better.I am having them build a lightweight basswood strat body , 2 pickups, hardtail bridge, white with a mirror black pickgaurd-a few differences from Jake's-but the same vibe. Their current build time is about 8 months-I've had old san dimas's, a bunch of 80's jackson customs even a metallic yellow esp jake strat custom-none even compare.Jest tell I sent ya-They are GREAT guys.
